Common Faults and Solutions of CTP Machines
Jan 17, 2025
CTP (Computer-to-Plate) machines may encounter some common faults during operation. Here are some faults and their solutions:
1. Insufficient image pixels
- Cause: Improper file processing.
- Solution: Reprocess the file to ensure that a copy is carefully proofread before publishing. Only when there is no problem can it be published. If there is a problem, report it to the supervisor in time and change the file.
2. Unclean layout
- Cause: Insufficient CTP exposure energy.
- Solution: Increase CTP exposure energy. In addition, unclean layout may be caused by a variety of problems, such as:
- Plate processor speed: When the CTP energy meets the standard, the plate will be processed with a blue background. The plate processor speed can be adjusted.
- Development temperature: When the CTP energy meets the standard, the plate will be processed with a blue background. The development temperature can be increased (if the temperature is increased, the dots will be diluted, and the speed can be adjusted appropriately).
- Plate processor hair roller pressure: If the above two methods are ineffective, the hair roller pressure can be adjusted appropriately.
3. The plate processor has dirty spots
- Solution: Check whether the plate glue stick is very dirty and wipe it clean. If the developer has been used for too long, consider replacing the developer, replacing the filter, and cleaning the machine.
- Prevention: Use the waste plate to run the plate processor several times before each publication.
4. Plate processor speed problem
- Solution: If the CTP energy meets the standard but the plate has a blue background, try to adjust the plate processor speed.
5. Developing temperature problem
- Solution: If the CTP energy meets the standard but the plate has a blue background, increase the developing temperature if the speed cannot be adjusted. If the temperature is increased, the dots will be diluted, the speed can be increased appropriately.
6. Hair roller pressure problem
- Solution: This method is rarely used. If the above 1-2 methods are ineffective, the hair roller pressure can be appropriately tightened. Note that the hair roller is worn out during the plate brushing process. The hair roller hair falling off and shortening will affect the plate processing effect.
The above methods can effectively solve the common faults encountered by CTP machines during operation. It is important to perform regular maintenance and inspection of the machine to prevent malfunctions and ensure smooth printing work.
